============
From modest beginnings, Women in Journalism has become one of the leading organisations for female journalists in the UK. It is unique in its breadth of membership, spanning newspapers, magazines and new media. Many high profile editors and some of this country’s most influential writers are
members.
An involvement with WIJ offers an array of potential benefits and advantages. Sponsors of WIJ are perceived as having positive, contemporary and enlightened attitudes towards women.
Sponsorship of WIJ supports research into issues that affect all women, such as the coverage of women in the media and the implementation of family friendly policies. It also offers sponsors the chance to meet journalists
informally at WIJ parties and seminars.
Leading figures in the media industry – Anna Wintour, Sally O’Sullivan, Nicholas Coleridge, Terry Mansfield, Rebekah Wade, Piers Morgan and many more have spoken at WIJ seminars and attended WIJ parties.
Women in Journalism also has a political presence, MP s and government ministers regularly attend WIJ events.
Sponsorship of specific events, such as the seminar programme, takes this relationship a step further. WIJ educational and inspiring seminars cover a broad range of topics and are tightly targeted towards journalists.
However, the panels sometimes require experts from other fields, such as health or finance, in which case corporate sponsors would be offered the first opportunity to fill the space. Sponsors of WIJ events are also able to
focus journalists’ attention on specific products through displays at events, promotional material given to attendees, or by offering items as prizes for lucky tickets or raffle draws.
All WIJ sponsors are also offered links through this website. If you would like to know how sponsorship could benefit your organisation, please contact Kate McMillan at WIJUK@aol.com
